Our client sought seclusion from the everyday hustle and bustle of LA life. They found it in a beautiful mid-century gem nestled in the Pasadena hills, originally designed and occupied by notable architect Robert Langdon. The home's aged redwood veneer blends with the natural surroundings, while its open interior spaces create an airy environment perfect for entertaining.
Our design concept aims to preserve and enhance the home's mid-century character. We approached this historically significant home with care, modernizing it to suit the client's lifestyle. Phase one involved expanding the master suite and kitchen to rejuvenate these spaces according to the client's needs. Phase two included remodeling and expanding the junior suite and the central living and dining areas. We added a bar to bring life to the main living core, complemented by a stone-clad fireplace and a cozy reading nook. The dining and living spaces fully open to the exterior, creating a seamless connection to the organically shaped pool and wooded hillside for a breezy entertaining environment. We carefully studied interior details to retain the home's mid-century fabric.
